"Music is a huge part of my training! I use music to get me in the right mood for lifting, both in training and competition. The playlist I put together for you is a mix of my main two-three playlists. I usually separate my playlists, so I can go to the right one to acquire the right mood. What I listen to during regular trainings varies A LOT. It can be Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash or Lil’ Jon, or something completely different. So, I chose to focus on what I listen to when lifting heavy for this playlist. There are basically two different moods I need to get into when lifting heavy, depending on my mentality and initial mood that day."
- "The crunk, aggressive hip hop music channels my inner bitch, makes me more confident and aggressive. I can look at my competitors and use them as motivation to get fired up and think some not very nice thoughts. But remember people, always hug your competitors and be nice when you’re finished!"
- "Russian national anthem/war songs or folk songs: there are two reasons I listen to this kind of music. First of all, it helps me put things in perspective if I get a little bit too fired up or nervous. By listening to songs about people going to war it makes me realize that lifting is not really important at all. People die going to war. Stop being a little bitch, just do your job. Second reason why I like to listen to Russian music is to remind myself of my competition (which often have been Russian) and that I have to focus and work hard because I do NOT want to hear their national anthem after I finish lift."
